Startup Sauna: who are the mentors of this years edition?

“The Amazing 15 will meet The Magnificent 6 “- this is the slogan on the poster announcing this year’s Startup Sauna. And there is no empty advertising in this sentence, because it is true, that in the experts who undertook the difficult role of mentors and judges know their stuff. Their task is mainly to show support for those who are at the beginning of creating their business. Who are those extraordinary mentors of Startup Sauna 2016?

One of the key aspects of the workshops during the Preparation Camp, organized before the Startup Sauna finals, is the opportunity to meet with people whose experience and knowledge gained in the international markets is priceless. Each of the mentors support the candidates in their chosen field. By meeting face to face, the Startup Sauna the finalists have to learn how to best present your idea so they can “sell” it to a potential investor. For many, the possibility of personal contact with successful people and gaining their opinion is even more important than winning.

This year mentors and jury consists of six remarkable entrepreneurs:

    Mike Bradshaw

“Community’s shepherd” and dis-organizer of BarCamp Helsinki and other coworking conferences. You can meet him drinking coffee (and free beer) at Aalto Venture Garage and Boost Startup Farm (on the occasion of supporting startups in terms of presentation skills), in the role of host in the Hub Helsinki, one of the drivers of the Traveling Salesman and as an organizer of MobileDevCamp.fi for the last three years. What’s more, he is a holder of a British passport.

    Maciej Grabski

He is one of the most dynamic investors and business organizers in Pomerania. One of the creators of the success of the Virtual Poland SA, its first investor and board member responsible for business development. Maciej Grabski’s area of activity is also acquiring undervalued manufacturing companies and undertaking restructuring activities. Maciej Grabski is the creator of Olivia Business Centre, the largest in its level, outside Warsaw, business and office center in Poland. This key investment in real estate market in Pomerania is changing the face of Gdańsk and the whole Gdańsk metropolis.

    Anna Hejka

Founder and Managing Director of Private Equity / Venture Capital Funds, Business Angel and experienced entrepreneur, CEO and Member of the Board, Investment Banker, analyst and lecturer, writer and speaker. Strategic advisor focused particularly on tasks. She has extensive experience in conducting business in different cultures (North America, Europe, Asia, Africa) and opportunistic cycles. Recognized and nominated during the World Economic Forum in Davos as a Global Leader for Tomorrow and was nominated in 2009 by the European Business Angel Associacion to the title of a Business Angel of the Year.

    Alina Prawdzik

Her business is e-commerce, strategy and marketing. In the years 2006-2013 she worked for eBay, first as Country Manager in Poland, and then in the headquarters in Switzerland, where she was responsible for several European markets and the expansion of eBay in Europe. In the years 2014-2015 she was the investor and COO of Audioteka. Business angel, investor, mentor and juror, among others, for Effie Award in the category of Technology & Innovation and eCommerce.

    Juha Ruohonen

He has extensive knowledge from software to electronics and optics, as well as health technology. Successfully explored the secrets of the trade being an investor of venture capital, and conquered global markets as president of the high risk venture capital companies. It is better to treat the former Chief Coach of Startup Sauna seriously, because this obstinate boss makes the rookies in the business pass through the blood, sweat and tears and learn what it takes to succeed as an entrepreneur.

    Torsti Tenhunen

He has 18 years of experience as an entrepreneur, leader and investor in companies of digital services, marketing communications and corporate strategy. He is known as a unshakable seeker of values, innovator of services and brand strategist. Recent contributions of Torsti as an accelerator and the investor are Proximi.io, Klevų, Media News Content, Musiclock, Netrauta.fi (EXIT 2015), Frank Students, Rovio, Tieto Corporation, Wärtsilä and the Finnish National Gallery. Previously, he worked at companies such as Nokia (Corporate Strategy), Edita (CEO subsidiary www.nordicmorning.fi), Satama Interactive Oyj (currently www.trainershouse.com) and hasan & partners (CEO).
